Workshop on modernisation of Danube vessel fleet

The emission reduction limits set out in Non-Road Mobile Machinery Directive oblige vessel operators to reduce air pollutant emissions by using alternative fuels or installation of exhaust after-treatment systems from 1 January 2019 / 2020.
Inland navigation is an efficient, safe and environmentally friendly mode of transport. In order to further reduce the environmental impact and to improve the economic performance of Danube navigation, it is necessary to stimulate the modernisation of the Danube fleet. Several European projects have demonstrated that a whole range of innovative technologies is available to make Danube navigation even greener and more efficient (Liquefied Natural Gas, filtering technologies, journey planners, etc.).
The workshop will present the findings of these projects and combine them with the newest information on state-of-the-art technologies from technology providers and integrators as well as the hands-on-experience from deployment projects.
The goal of the workshop is to transfer newest know-how on available innovations for the modernisation of inland vessels to the Danube stakeholders and to inform about financing options.
