Two more calls available in the Austrian funding project for environmentally friendly inland waterway vessels

The last two application deadlines for the support program of the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology for green inland waterway vessels were set: 30 September 2016 and 3 March 2017. Based on the results of international research, the programme “Aid Scheme for Green Inland Waterway Vessels” (Förderprogramm umweltfreundliches Binnenschiff) has been developed as part of the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Danube.

Direct grants are available for the refitting of ships with environmentally friendly equipment and machinery. The funding programme for green inland waterway vessels runs from 01/07/2013 to 31/05/2017. Funding is processed by viadonau – Österreichische Wasserstraßen-Gesellschaft mbH. To support innovative modernisation and the implementation of new technologies to the fleets, eligible shipping companies receive a non-repayable grant of up to 40 per cent. Direct grants are available for ships and include the installation and purchase of exhaust gas after treatment installations as well as the optimization of propulsion systems and steering gears.
